O2 Class W24 ‘Calbourne’

The boiler lagging and cladding has been fitted. A milestone was achieved on Tuesday 15 December when the side tanks and cab were fitted; ‘Calbourne’ is now looking more like a locomotive!

A1x Class W8 ‘Freshwater’

A change of air pump has been carried out, as has an overhaul of the injectors and this has led to improved reliability. ‘Freshwater’ was used on the late November service and also for the first weekend of the ‘Santa Specials’. Footplate crews have had the challenging experience of managing steam heating with a small boiler.

A1/X Class W11 ‘Newport'

Delivery of ‘Newport’s new boiler is now imminent.

Hawthorn Leslie W37 ‘Invincible’

Currently in store awaiting sourcing and manufacture of new spring hangers. Work on the axleboxes is required, following it's failure with a broken spring hanger during August.

Barclay W38 ‘Ajax’

'Ajax' has now been has been laid up for the winter.

Hunslet ‘Austerity’ WD192 ‘Waggoner’

The locomotive has been laid up for the winter.

Hunslet ‘Austerity’ WD198 ‘Royal Engineer’

With replacement springs have fitted, ‘Royal Engineer’ was in service over the Christmas and New Year period.

Ivatt 46447

The locomotive is now in deep preservation with an application of paint, grease and suitable covers to ensure that its period of storage outside does not undo any of the restoration work which has already been completed. Currently located in the headshunt, it can be seen from passing trains.
