LBSCR 4-Wheeled Third 2343

Fully re-varnished and now bagged up for the winter. Carriages which will be out of use for the winter months are covered with a protective tarpaulin 'bag' to protect the bodywork from weather damage.  This is a chore that will disappear when the Rolling Stock Storage building is constructed.

LBSCR Third 2403

During October 2010 work proceeded steadily on fitting out the underframe with the pipe work for the braking system and the steam heating completed. Sunday 24 October saw another milestone in the restoration project when the body was placed temporarily on the overhauled underframe.  All Up side roof boards have been removed, cleaned and replaced. The Down side roof is near completion. Flooring has been progressed and a start has been made on the tip up seat for the disabled compartment. Preparation for internal coatings and the installation of Down side fixed lights continues.

LBSCR 2403 is now on the refurbished underframe.Conversion of the London end compartments for wheelchair users is now well advanced.

Now waiting outside the works for space to allow the body to be transferred to the accommodation underframe.

LBSCR Brake Third 4168

The wheel sets from the underframe acquired from Brechin have been needle gunned, cleaned and painted. On 25 October the first bogie was taken into works for the wheel sets to be changed and the bogie and its brake gear to be reassembled. Suspension links are also receiving attention. As soon as the Country end bogie is completed it will be re-fitted and the London end bogie brought into works.  New buffer brackets riveted together and the Country end brackets have been riveted in place, along with a drawbar strengthening plate.  Country end air and steam heat pipes have been re-fitted and the Guard's heater re-connected.

During the 'Calbourne' weekend W24 headed the early morning goods.  The Shark brake van and two departmental open wagons can be seen in this picture.

Now on its own wheels. Work continues on various brackets and plates.

LBSCR 27834 - now on four wheels!'W' irons are still to be fitted.

BR 13T Single Bolster, ex-Lowfit DB 453374

Entered works on 14 December 2010 for tidying up and application of wood preservative to the timber decking.

453374 gets a tidy-up after spending a number of years as a home to various locomotive components.

LBSCR 10T Covered Goods, ex-Cattle Wagon 46924

In the works for a new door to be made and fitted.
